Song Lyrics: “All o’ Me”
‘All o’ Me’ was recorded as part of David Willersdorf’s Fire This Love album which he recorded with producer Rick Price in Sputnik Sounds studios in East Nashville. Fire This Love marked a new musical season with David recording songs outside his previous genre.
“I found myself writing the music of the song before the lyrics, which isn’t always the case in how I usually go about writing songs,” says David. “The electric keyboard part is really the basis for the whole song. It came about in one of my regular freestyle jam sessions. Then the melody seemed to find its way into the mix amongst the chord progressions I’d put together. When I eventually came to writing the lyric, I got thinking about a love that transforms - kind of like a light in the darkness - and then the lyrics formed easily from there.
“When I finally had the chance to record the song over in the studio in Nashville, I was amazed at how things came together. When I record in Australia, we’ll often record one part at a time. In Nashville, though, Rick Price had me at a keyboard in the control room. In the main recording room they had set up drummer Chris Powell, bass guitarist Byron House and guitarist Doug Lancio with Jon Coleman at a Hammond organ in the corner. Their amps were all in other rooms and we basically laid down the song as a band. To hear ‘All o Me’ come together so quickly and professionally was amazing. Then Doug laid down some incredible lead guitar parts which made the song come to life. Rick Price on backing vocals was the icing on the cake.
“The song is definitely one that resonates with audiences as I’ve been playing it across the tours. We have a lot of fun with it live for sure.”
All o’ Me
Verse 1:
You came to me in my world
You brought your light to my darkness
You came to me in my world
All I had were lonely yesterdays
You brought me full tomorrows
You came to me in my world
Pre-Chorus:
You came to save
You helped me walk away
Chorus:
So here I am to say
All o me’s so much better than before
You came to light my way
And all o me’s so much better in your love
All o me’s so much better in your love
Oh
