Song Lyrics: “Waiting For Love”
‘Waiting for Love’ was recorded as part of David Willersdorf’s Fire This Love album which he recorded with producer Rick Price in Sputnik Sounds studios in East Nashville. Fire This Love marked a new musical season with David recording songs outside his previous genre.
“‘Waiting for Love’ is one of my oldest songs. Until ‘Fire This Love’ album came along, I hadn’t had a vehicle on which to record the song,” says David. “I wrote the song whilst I was working in Sydney’s Kings Cross as a youth worker with many images of people living on the streets in my mind. Many of the people I encountered ended up on the streets simply because of a few circumstances coming together and leaving them with no other choice. The song puts a window on some of their stories.:
Waiting for Love
Verse 1:
She sits in the corner of the street
She don’t have a thing, don’t have nothin’ to eat
She spends all her days just a walkin’ the beat
But what can she do? She’s a waiting for love
Verse 2:
He sleeps on a bench in the local park
A bottle rolls so slowly from his hand into the dark
One day he’ll keep sleepin’, maybe he’ll never wake up
But what can he do? He’s a waiting for love
Chorus:
Whu-oh, whu-oh, he’s/she’s/they’re a waiting for love
Whu-oh, whu-oh, he’s/she’s/they’re a waiting for love
Whu-oh, whu-oh, he’s/she’s/they’re a waiting for love
Just a waiting for love, he’s/she’s/they’re a waiting for (love)
Verse 3:
She fills up her days, just a findin’ what she can
She dreams of a friend who will hold her hand
She don’t want no lover, just someone who’ll understand
But what can she do? She’s a waiting for love
Bridge:
Jesus would just run, hold ’em in his arms
So how can we ignore their cries for survival?
Oh, oh, Ohh
Breakdown:
Whu-oh, whu-ohhh, Whu-oh, whu-ohhh
Whu-oh, whu-ohhh, Whu-ohhh, Waiting for love
